Papillon is French for butterfly – which symbolises a rebirth from an awkward, sometimes ugly, caterpillar confined to walking to a beautiful butterfly which is free to go where it wants and is vibrant with life and colour. This is what we hope to do for your outdoor space.
A cheaper alternative to walling for a retaining wall is to use gabion baskets (wire baskets). These ones pictured are 1x1x1m and are filled with local quarry stones. This enabled the garden to be flat instead of sloping down by 1m over 2-3m of land – thereby creating much more usable space along the house
Here we were levelling and filling in 4 large concrete base ponds and making the garden a bit smaller next to the house for less upkeep and adding paving and a drystone dyke. The rest of the garden we have lots of native planting along the border and a new veggie garden area – with a greenhouse to be added later.
We are currently needing to get rid of some stock materials – which includes natural slate for paving and high quality artificial turf. Please contact us now if you are interested as the materials are currently 50% off! This only applies to jobs in January and February. Still some left, but stocks are getting low!

We started with a blank canvas as the client had removed the old mossy turf and planting for us to get started…

This actually has nothing to do with a burn… it’s the garden that we’ve constructed at Burns Road! We used natural slate tiles (600x600mm) from The Caledonian Stone Company and reclaimed Aberdonian cassies to give a modern feel to this front and back garden.
